HIGH SPEED INTERNET AND TELEPHONE OPTIONS

Wireless Broadband Internet.
High speed ADSL2+ Internet lines are connected to a Broadband Router which feeds Wireless
access points located throughout the facility. Laptops, PC's, PDA's etc can be connected via
wireless to the Internet on our very high speed ( 18 Mbps ) ADSL2plus, with WiFi.
Non WiFi computers can also be accommodated.
Options ( per user )
1)Free Internet - 64Kbps Dial up speed. Up to 200Mbyte per month
For light or intermittent use.
2)Medium to Extreme Use Internet - High Speed Internet (18Mbps). Options of 5, to 20
Gigabyte per month as standard plans, more plans are available on request. Connection is
usually arranged within 10 minutes of arrival.
For most users
3)Get your own Internet - If none of the above plans suit you are welcome to organize your
own internet service from any ISP you choose. Note that you can not install wireless routers for
this option as they interfere with the ISH network and you must install a phone line as
recommended by your service provider.
Connection is free to ISH plans when requested on arrival, a connection fee may apply
for other options.

In Room Telephones.
Options
All rooms have individual telephone lines.
They can also be used for individual Dial or Broadband Internet services if desired. You can
take any option that suits your requirements.
Low cost Telephone option
In room lines at ISH have connections to MyNetphone. A low cost telephone service at the price
of calling cards but with the convenience of a normal telephone service in the rooms for no
monthly charge. A once only $40 connection fee applies.
Example costs per minute are , HK - 1.9c, Singapore - 1.9c, China - 1.9c, Malaysia from 3.9c,
Indonesia - from 7c, Taiwan 2.9c, Australia Mobiles - 29c
PC based Internet Telephony.
Many students call home using Skype or other similar PC based Internet services which are free
or low cost. However the quality varies and is best for PC - PC based calls if quality is not
important.
Chose your own Telephone company.
In room lines may also be connected to Telstra, Optus etc and used to call direct or for pre-paid
calling cards. Installation fees and minimum rental periods may apply. Any arrangements would
be between the user and the service provider.
Acceptable use policy.
